One of the latest names to be added to this already stunning line-up is Glasgow band Glas Vegas - a band who this week had a front cover on the NME proclaiming them to be the "best new band in Britain" - having recently been asked to appear on Jools Holland (one of the elite few bands that did so without any single or album to promote!) and with the likes of music industry mogul Alan Mcgee predicting that 'they will be the best Scottish band of all time' , this is a real coo for the festival organisers. Glas Vegas join the mainstage line-up for Saturday 09th August.

With the UK seeing more and more music festivals than ever before, it's essential that the organisers of the RBCM deliver a varied and quality line-up - Katy Thomas from Truro based independent music promoters SW1 Productions, who are programmers for the festival said " it's absolutely all about getting the right balance of new upcoming talent, playing alongside the more established bands, with a local representation - this year has seen an influx of bands keen to play at Rip Curl Boardmasters, it's location and blend of extreme sports with live music is unique at a time where the bigger festivals are seen to be struggling to bring something new to the table'.

Last year's festival saw the introduction of the Relentless Energy Drink 'No Half Measures Stage' which featured an array of up coming talent, including The Ting Tings. The stage will see a bit of a makeover this year and moves onto a larger semi outdoor setting, headliners this year will see punk giants Gallows doing the honours on Saturday 08th, frontman Frank Carter was recently quoted in the NME as saying 'how much he was looking forward to being by the sea' and the oh so talented (and thank god it's finally been recognised!, Mystery Jets who return to the festival to headline on Friday 08th, after having played as one of the earlier bands in 2006.

A new addition to the festival is the 'Locals Stage' - this will run on Saturday (Friday the stage will be hosted by Radio One, as previously announced).

Already confirmed to play, amongst many others are, The General Store aka Tam from Glass Shark and his amazing side project of Neil Young tinged, West Coast Americana. Redruth's legendary resident rapper, Hedluv will be making an appearance with his side kick Passman, watch out for the dance moves. Cornwall's answer to Queens of the Stoneage, Suitenoir and Falmouth bad boys My Elvis Blackout will be providing the Rock n Roll vibe to proceedings.

With a total of 10 acts due to perform including a headline set from Devon's The Days, who are currently building quite a name for themselves after signing to Atlantic records an extensive touring in the UK, this stage is a healthy addition to what looks set to be the most exciting Unleashed Festival so far.

So with festival headliners Groove Armada, bringing us some of the biggest dance anthems of our times and The Pigeon Detectives who for many currently reign as the kings of 'indie rock bands', as well as the exciting emerging talents such as Natty and Cage The Elepant mixed with some new names, Red Light Company, Hexes, In Case Of Fire etc…this year's Rip Curl Boardmasters is set to be the biggest and best yet!
